bnz 44 front sight..?

Good evening everyone; I have a question I am sure someone can answer for me, I bought this bnz 44 from Lagara Arms early in the fall/late summer. I was wondering if the sight blade that is on it now is a freak of nature or something put on originally; I say originally due to wear. I posted pictures of it outta the stock just for reference. Unfortunately I am going to have to pull the rear site coller because someone thought it would be a good idea to grind off the lip for the stock guard. Appreciate any info you may have.
It wasn't done drawing blood either; pulled the front barrel band and hooked my hand into that damed sight blade. Lol

I dare say it looks like the orginal sightpost was ground down and painted by a previous owner, given the uneven profile in the second picture. Not uncommon, my S/42 was done the same way.

Ok; thank you for the info. I am wondering if I should dig up another sight and replace that as well.

Its a tough call, on one hand if nothing else has been done to the rifle I'd put it in that stock you got with the bnz45 and with a sighthood installed you may hardly notice it. On the other hand you will have to find an original sight post in similar condition to the rifle.

I actually have one that matches, I also have a rear sight collar as well that matches, the machine marks don't match though. You will definitely be able to tell unless it's all reblued. I do have the stock this came in.
