If that rifle is in a condition for you to say "not perfect", it makes me really depressed thinking of what the rest of your collection looks like Bruce...

This one took a little work. Alot of the dark brown laminate stocks are not period correct at least in terms of color and exterior finish. This one had some very old stain (likely shoe polish) applied decades ago. With a little work I got the color to lighten to the point where
it looked correct.

Here is an application hint - take 20% mild stripper and 80% neutral color danish oil.
Use this to gradually remove the offending overcoat. Works perfect and will not dry the wood, and leaves the color in the wood.

And the wood is shows carrying wear - with the lighty rounded edges and light cartouche. Even so, I like the look and this one is a keeper.
