Closet G24(t)

I love untouched closet fresh stuff like this. Another local find, had two blurry pictures to go off, but decided to drive for it. I thought it was matching at first from the pictures with the blued bolt but it’s a vz24 bolt. This thing hasn’t been touched in a LONG time, I moved the sling loop/adjuster whatever you want to call it and there’s dirt packed around where it was positioned, that kinda untouched. The rust while prevalent is “soft” if I could describe it, a lot of it easily scratches away with a fingernail. I have the feeling it would clean up very well as the bluing that does show is excellent. However, I am not sure I even want to, how many more rifles will show up like this in the future? There’s so much over cleaned and messed with stuff out there already. The HG has a decent proof remaining, and the sling is nicely Wa101 proofed with an L&F buckle.

That's really cool, congrats! I can't imagine the rust removal will be a tough hill to climb, but I'd still look below the wood line. Congratulations on a really neat find.

It's a shame about the rust but man that is minty! I think I'd leave it just as it is too as the rust does not appear to be active. Definitely worth the trip and congrats!

dou '41 or '42? Love the closet look, but rust never sleeps. The patina/ age/ long-term storage that rust creates (IMO) is awesome to find, but is just accumulated neglect. Here's some related views...

Definitely can't argue with the term neglect. This has certainly spent part of it's life in a damp location like a basement I'd say. I was going with '42 but he doesn't show a receiver top.

Thanks guys! I am very happy with it. Looks like I missed some pertinent pictures, as it was late when I posted it. It’s a 41 and not quite 2k away from my other G24(t)! That dot came out great Bob! I would love to work on the rust just to see how the bluing looks but I still can’t make up my mind on this. Another interesting note, the rear sight has also been set at 600 for a long time as there is no rust under its current setting. Also forgot to mention it’s duffle cut, I can feel the forend is loose. Here are some of the other detail pictures.
