Looking at this dou 44. Any input on it?
Non matching supposed BYF late stock. Does that appear to be correct, at least time period wise?

Looks good so far. Can you post some photos of it out of the stock? Love the rough milling chatter on the stock.
Thats what happens after bombing loosens up the machinery.

Unfortunately I haven’t seen it in person but I am trying to get more photos. Does the stock coloration look right?

Alright so I am relatively new to the 98k nuances so that’s why I am here to get you fellas input. Seeing as it is in a non matching replacement stock with what appears to be some sort of carving on the underside of the butt stock and there are some numbers lightly etched into the rear sight. What would a rough estimate on price be? Still trying to get more pics to up load

A couple close ups of the above mentioned things and the bore

I believe the WaA135 final acceptance stamp on the buttstock is a new addition. From my understanding a dou 44 shouldnt have any stock acceptances in this area. Shame, because so far the rest of the rifle looks pretty good.

EDIT: just realized that it is already known the stock isnt correct.

John.

Regardless thank you for the information. And yes he was very up front about it not being a matching stock. The WaA 135 looks to be correct for a BYF correct? And not a new faked addition? I’m just not sure with the non originals i.e. - stock, number etching, m or w carved in stock what a fare value estimate would be

The electro pencil number is no doubt a former owners ss number. Police departments used to encourage this to help deter theft, in some small towns they would put the number on if you brought the gun it. As it sits I think it is
an $800. gun. But that is just my opinion, I am sure others will see it differently.

I thought it might be a ssn. I didn’t know they would do that. I was hoping it could be buffed out but that would probably only make things worse. I feel like the gentleman is asking to much in my opinion. Thank you.
