It looks so crude that I would not dare use one.

It looks a lot like the flamethrower Ripley uses in Aliens - although bulkier and cruder (as Guillaume said).

What model/variant is that? It looks unlike most of the period pictures of German troops using flame throwers (at least that I’ve seen).
