A friend who is a long-time collector feels there were more G/K 43's brought back by American GI's than generally thought. They knew the main German rifle was the bolt-action Mauser and were intrigued by a German semiautomatic rifle. Their view was: "Hitler ordered a semiautomatic rifle made to counter our M1."
