G33/40 stock question?

I am looking to buy a G33/40. It has a 3 piece stock, but it unfortunately varnished as it was used by Norwegian police post war. All I was really wanting to find out is, would using products to remove varnish affect the stock pieces in anyway where they are joined to each other??
