Good detective work

Warrior1354

ax - hole
A member on Dave's WW2 weapons forum research info on this rifle. It was sold as a complete barreled action back in July for $315 too Januszek. Now its up again with a matching bolt and front barrel band. Seller states look like a rebuild! And guess who the seller is Januszek. This is an on going auction and it shouldn't be moved too the off topic section. This is clearly a faker that tried too pull a fast one and got caught doing it. Most don't get caught and now you know about one. Plus who did the work and builds fakes. It is a poor fake but it started out as an original barreled action.

That 'Janusek' is a known turd monger. Not the first time he's been caught in this kind of scam. If he's EVER sold an honest rifle I haven't seen it.

I think this guy also sells humped parts on EBay. The user name is almost exactly the same. I also think that he has more than one EBay account, both listed as being in the same town in Pennsylvania.

Januszek is a magician! He buy often naked barreled receivers and a lot spare parts, after a short time in his possession there is a metamorphose to original all matching K98ks. When you look into his User Feedback and the old transactions, you can see what is going on.

Here is a older example from around two years ago:
1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg

He bought on Gun Broker the naked barreled receiver "duv 42" from EliteCollection, just a few months later Januszek was offering the same rifle, complete and matching in all numbers. At that time he described the rifle as completely matching, in the new auctions he's more careful with his words.

Regards,
Stephan

I have been watching this seller on EBay for a while now after seeing some of items/work and suspecting they were fakes. The item is a floor plate with a pretty good (new) looking WaA stamping. I’m not sure EVERYTHING he sells on EBay is humped, but some of it certainly is.

I’m also about 95% sure this is the same seller. Different user name, same town, same selection of parts, many with questionable stamped WaA.

Certainly he switched the account after he got feedback like this one:
Mauser k98 Floor Plate Gustloff 1 (#273075008042) - "Fake hand stamped it still had file marks from # removal and cold blue."

Nice work Stephan! I know a few people were keeping tabs on this guy.

Thanks Warrior for posting this! I wanted to post over here too but was too busy last night.
He also bought another barreled action CE43 #7615g on 9/2/18 (GB auction 783679784), coming soon as a bring-back straight from the attic. He seems to be buying up every barreled action he can get his hands on, and he outbids honest bidders because he knows he's going to hump it and sell it for even more as a matching rifle.

Thanks also to M1903A3. I also believe those other user names are the same guy.
And Stephan is right - he now uses words like "I'm no expert" and "looks like a rebuild" in addition to his claims as all matching to try to avoid trouble.

Edit: Added pics of his latest acquisition from GB "German K98 Barreled Action ce43 Matching and Nice!" CE 43 Serial #7615g

Good job Warrior. Guys, always good to post a screen grab pic of the auction because in some months that link will expire leaving nothing. Here is the auction and seller:

Without screen shots of the auction, loaded to our server, after some months the evidence looks like the screen shot below. Always a good idea to type in the type of firearm, title and serial number. That way a Google search can bring it here. That's how we put the hurt on this type of fraud.

Oh crap!! I missed this whole thread and wasn’t up on his previous “work” this guy has been buying parts from me on occasion, I’ll have to put an end to that!!! If anyone notices any other account names associated with this kind of crap please let me know so I can withhold sales to them!

That’s what prompted my search for what you were mentioning, as I recognized his handle in your thread, good work bringing stuff like this out guys, sad that it even has to happen.

I just posted some more of his “work” in a new thread. :)

Glad I just registered today, guess I am going to review the two "matching serial" rifles I just added to my list that he is selling. Reading through the boards has made me so paranoid that I cannot seem to trust any of the sellers on GB, does anyone have a good alternative or a seller they find reliable?
