Third Party Press

Hello from the Netherlands!

Just wanted to introduce myself and thank you guys for amazing amount of info on this wonderful board!

I'm 35 years old, living near Amsterdam and have always been interested in WW2 history and weapons due to family history.
This interest led to me joining a shooting club with the ultimate goal to own a Karabiner 98k!

Due to our strict gun laws, it takes a long time before you can own a large caliber rifle. So I would like to use this time to inform myself as much as possible.

I'm also really intrigued by the KKW Trainer rifles and would love to find out more about them.

Welcome aboard. You are doing the right thing in learning about them first. Lots of information and guidance here and we're glad to help.

Welcom! to the best resource spot on the planet... Best of luck on your search and the trainers are indeed quite interesting in their own right. Miss Amsterdam... Geniet van!

Welcome to the site Heinrich :happy0180: I enjoyed Amsterdam in my youth. I would like to go back as an adult. You are in luck on the .22 trainers as a very good book which my friend Jim Whitley co-authored has been published.
Cheers,
HB

Thanks again for the warm welcome guys!

I'm aware of the book and planning to order it, would be awesome to own a nice KKW before I'll be able to get the real thing!

Btw, i wonder what you guys would think of Amsterdam nowadays.. the socialist city council is ruining the place with lot's of regulations.
For instance, half of the Red Light District is gone due to their restrictions. Now it's all Nutella shop's and other stupid tourist stores, the hookers have moved to hotel lobby's.

I loved Amsterdam when I visited way back in 2006. It's a shame to hear it's gone down hill since.I found plenty of good pubs and everyone we spoke to was friendly.

Welcome to the forums, from what I know takes about a year of being in a club to become an owner. How much time you got left?

Welcome aboard, Heinrich! In terms of a sound academic approach to the study of the Mauser rifle, you've found the right forum.

I worked in Schiedam, outside Rotterdam in the late 60's and all of Europe was a far healthier place then. Others have expressed it more eloquently, but the EU's program will result in nothing less than the spiritual and overall cultural destruction of Europe if it's allowed to continue. Some family members still attend Oktoberfest but otherwise, the social deterioration has alienated our generation.

Thanks! You first become a trial member of a club for half a year. After this period, you'll become a full member but still have to wait one year before being able to own a small caliber weapon.
I still have half a year to go and will use this time to hunt down a KKW (I hope)..

@oldcorps: Amen to that! The EU is a totally undemocratic, imperialistic and totalitarian beast that will lead to the end of Western European civilization as we knew it.
