I also have a 1940 Luftwaffe Leica that says
Made in Germany.
By then they were not yet at war with the US
so it wasnt that big of an issue..

Its a Post WW2 Scope made for Export due to the Germany Markings , most likely from a Sporting Type Hunting Rifle IMO .

Hi skyrimjoe

I have been puttin some time into researchin this stuff. Definitely not as much as some...
Lots of great collectors here on this forum have shared
Some much needed factual information with me.
That said, if anything I have said here below is incorrect I hope my friends correct me
right away and I appologize in advance.

I believe You will find, if you don't know already, that Dave Roberts who commented
Here is not only a very knowledgeable collector but a personable guy, as you will find soooooo many on this
Forum are
Easy for me to concurr with him on the scope.
From what I have learned the hensoldt optics used on the " objective mount" sniper rifles had the mfg. Information applied to the objective area of the optic and not on the tube itself.
The OM rifles were made early and only for a short period of time.
From original period photographs that have been shared with me by others on this forum show
The windage adjustment on the mount was located on the rear mount leg, the left side
And was a square adjustment lug. Not a type that used opposing screws as it appears your rear mount likely has. ( although you did not post a picture of the right side, but I believe all original OM rifles with Hendoldt optic had the
Left lug). The OM windage lug is very similar to the adjustment Lug found on the "long side rail" snipers that were mfg. late war. So to me it appears the mount
Was made later as well. I don't have the knowledge yet to say exactly when, but during the period when the OM rifles were mfg. The type of screw adjustment on your rear mount was not used.
.......
hope this helps
Steve.
