K43 AC 44 "g" or "q" block w/ matching ZF4 scope mount

Here are a few pics of another acquisition awhile ago.

K43 AC44 looks like "g" block or "q" block, I didn't take it out of the stock.
Stock has been sanded unfortunately, but the scope and mount appear original to the rifle and the mount serial matches the rifle. This one is in outstanding condition sans the light sanding. Car touches are still clearly visible.
Enjoy.

Definitely not something You see to often a Mount matching K43 . I certainly do not know much about these but it would of liked to have seen it before stock sanding . Even though the stock is sanded a matching mount K43 is nice to have . Best Regards

Yes, all matching G/K43 snipers are pretty tough to find.

On this one, has anybody noticed the odd ZF4 scope markings...triangle is upside down, numbering is applied slanted etc..

I did not notice that Brian . I did notice the painted number 26

The serial number of the rifle 2641 is painted on the scope. The 41 is obscured by the scope cover.

If you gentlemen see an issue of concern please post it up.

K43 AC 44 "g" or "q" block w/ matching ZF4 scope mount

Brian, I thought the scope markings looked odd... Good catch, now I need to look over my collection as I'm curious if I might have missed an oddball!

Great find on a matched scope mount set on a very nice rifle. If it was mine I would consider removing the shiny finish without damaging any stock markings or doing any sanding.

Well the stock cross bolt is on backwards so someone monkeyed with the stock when applying the shiny finish. Rain shield on the scope appears to be a reproduction and the eye cup may be as well. I don't recall seeing a blued "gcb" magazine, these were typically painted black or occasionally a thin phosphate finish on very late ones. Anyone suspect it may have been reblued? Looks way too new and clean to my old tired eyes.

Cool to see a relatively early example without a bolt hold open latch, is there a reverse "45" on the top of the forging? If I had to guess I would say it's a "q" block and I would be quite surprised if it was a "g" block. This rifle has a number of late features. Strip down the rifle and find out the actual letter block if you would be so kind. Also some photos of the bolt and firing pin carrier detail would be interesting as well to see just how this one was built and what late features may have been adopted on a 44 marked rifle! Open the action, one guide rail or two?? Serious collectors need to know!!! :)

Still a rare one! Very Nice to see!

I have never seen the upside down triangle either. Not sure what that means. Probably just a error during manufacturing. I have seen different fonts used on these scopes so this could be just another slight variation. Nothing to be concerned about.

Can you remove the white stuff from the scope mount markings and post clear pictures of the serial number on the mount. I am not 100% comfortable with the numbering but it could very well be the lighting. I would lean towards believing that the rifle serial number painted on the scope is not war time. But I could be wrong. Greg and Brian would be able to answer this better than me. Thanks for sharing this. Please post any other goodies you have. We love to see them here.

I'll strip and photograph this one as well, hopefully tomorow.

Concerning the stock, there is a gentleman on this forum that will fix the "shine" for me. Hopefully I'll get him the rifle shortly.

I didn't tackle striping this one down yet, but I will shortly.

Here are some additional photos.

being a K43 I would have to say it's a q block not a g. As the change from G to K43 happened after the g block for sure.

As for the rifle is was bought in the early 60's by the former owner. He claims to have never touched the stock. So, I assume the vet did the handy work. The Stock will be an easy fix.

I'm going to send it to you to repair.

You can also ask gergnotwen. He has great experience and helped me a lot. But to be short: First you must take off the varnish with the usual chemicals you get in the Baumarkt. Then stock has to be rubbed off with alcohol. Then you have to apply Leinölfirnis to it. This is all. No mechanical shite.

Ok, so I broke the rifle down and even without the hold back it wasn't too bad.
Here are detailed pics of every mark I could find.
