Gentlemen, I have a 1939 K98 , maker 42 (Mauser Werke-Oberndorf) acquired 35 years ago. All
matching, original sling, 80% original finish, Question: Its missing the nosecap/bayonet stud,
I know these were numbered to match the rifle, but want to replace the same and complete
the rifle, have any of you had experience with any of the repros sold on Ebay, etc, as to
fit and finish, or buy an original, cant imagine there were any originals made at this time
without serial numbers, Thanks for any suggestions, Flareman

You may find a e/655 marked bayo lug without a serial number. Or just a blank early style.

I would post an ad here and also monitor ebay.

A rifle that's otherwise matching is no place for a repro.
