Here is a very late matching Berg & Companie bayonet coded agv and dated 1944. This piece is serial numbered 39d and when purchased a few years ago it was the latest 44agv recorded. I think since that time a couple have been located with higher numbers. During the Fall of 1944, in their early d block production, Berg changed from agv to the pyy code. Matching and collectable condition Berg pieces dated 1944 are difficult to locate as less than 70,000 were produced. Of that total, slightly greater than the 40,000 bear the agv code and less than 30,000 are pyy marked examples.
