M35 DD Luftwaffe Painted Tricolor

Hey everyone,

Wanted to share a new pickup, I present a M35 presumably from 1938 if chinstrap is original to the piece. Has the amount of patina I like on a helmet, and the second pattern eagle is in very good condition. Curiously the tricolor seems to be touched up long ago, as the white paint glows under blacklight. I thought this was rather interesting. The liner is in great shape but has some black spotting presumably from being kept in the wrong humidity. Additionally the chinstrap is said to be original, but has become rather brittle and dry over the years. Can anyone make out the manufacturer on the strap? Let me know what you think!

I made out "Kampmann" on the chin strap, so I believe it reads:

RAHM & KAMPMANN
WUPPERTAL
1938

My guess on the tricolor is it was scraped off according to regs around 1942 or so, and then some tried to "restore" it post war...but otherwise, nice helmet!

Definitely could be! I believe this is an attic find from over ten years ago. What I'm assuming from the original owners house but not 100% on that. What I do know is that it has only been in 2 collections before mine and it has been in this condition since being found. I was given the contact info of the guy who originally found it but haven't reached out to him yet. Maybe tomorrow after work I'll take some better higher resolution images with my Nikon, I just snapped these real quick on my phone and honestly I didn't look it over in too much depth tonight

Nazi stuff has been being faked, humped and enhanced since the war ended. Even attic finds that have been in collections for 50+ years.

Either or could be correct. Most m35dd lufts are found with tricolors intact as most were not front line troops..

But enhanced for sure.. This one is form the late 38 39 period with very few creeping into early 1940. This is the 3rd pattern eagle.. at there are 2 distinct 1 pattern eagles.

Snake, straight , then the more modern streamlined eagle used until the end of the war. All these SE and ET shells are from 1939 for the most part.
