Matching BYF 44 C block. Only safety is probably replaced. Safety has no serial number, its only marked WaA 135.

FN made bolt, MI and WaA 140 marked.

Very lucky that delamination stopped right before the acceptance stamp on the stock! Great untouched example.
 
Not common to see a knot at the surface like this.. It lifted off and the moisture and drying caused the splitting. Kept stable it wont get any worse.
 
I have a BYF 44 c block with a S/N about 500 numbers higher than yours. It also has no S/N on the safety. However the inspection mark on the back of the safety is 668. The barrel code in 43 R 308. In addition it has a more rounded sight hood like the one on your rifle. I find all this very interesting.

Yes it is interesting. unnumbered safety only with inspection mark on rifles that were produced shortly after each other (they could even be produced in the course of the same day). Is it possible a factory error?
I think safeties stopped being numbered during k block byf44
