Mauser rifle offered to me. Need help

This guy is offering a Kar98k for my Egyptian Hakim. I’ve always wanted a Mauser and despite I like my Hakim I would take a Kar98k over a hakim any day.

It’s not matching, but I don’t really mind that. But the stock looks kinda funny, and I’ve never seen one with numbers on the side of the receiver

He said he wants to do the rifle plus 150 to him and I mean I like kar98ks but I mean..come on. That’s kind of a lot since hakims are going for almost a $1000 on classic.

It’s not a wonder he wants it then. The hakim I have as far as I can translate is all matching (I can’t read Arabic well) and it’s the last year of production. I’m kind of bummed because I really want a Kar98k for my collection but I keep coming across spotters, and sporter saves, and ones that are force matched

Yea it's a very lopsided trade proposal in his favor. I'd sit on the Hakim for a little longer, sell it, and buy a nicer K98 on the trader section right here.

Just have patience and check the trader section here often. One can easily get screwed on a K98.

Alright I appreciate the help. After looking at pics I notice the stock does indeed look very similar to the Russian captures. I wouldn’t mind a few parts being mismatched and all, but if it’s not in the time correct period stock that kind of bothers me

He seems to act like he didn’t know it was that bad and I kind of feel bad after telling him because he seemed super sad. He said he traded a Sig Sauer M17 army surplus and $250 for it, and in like oh man...those pistols alone are going for $800....

Sorry I was just going by what one of the guys above said. Either way I know it’s not the original stock even if that stock is beautiful as can be.

I’ll take that advice. I’m definitely keeping notes about what to look for In an authentic gun.

Yeah he has every reason to be super sad. That was a REALLY bad deal for him. By nearly a factor of 2. If he got the $250 probably still a little off but closer to reality.

I mean I’ll be honest. It’s a pretty fun, and whoever owned it definitely took care of it. I wouldn’t mind getting it, but I don’t feel comfortable trading the hakim. Now if I was trading the hakim for one of those Czech K98s off of classic that would feel like a good deal in my opinion.
