NCO school - Feldersatz Btl. 331, Normandy Soldbuch

Hello,

got this Soldbuch at a recent flea market. Wheras in pretty bad shape, I had to buy it, because the soldier had a G29/40 and a G43.
According to:

the Feldersatz Btl 331 was wiped out in June 1944 in Normandy.

Hello Wolfgang,

Congratulations with your new Soldbuch and thanks for posting it on this forum.
To bad that someone put his siccors in to it.
The soldier it belonged to didn't see any action in Normandy, he was WIA at the end of October 1943 by a shrapnel on the easternfront, the wound(s) must have been serious because he stayed in hospital for this until April 13 1945.

thanks Peter,
but if I read the records correctly, he left hospital on February, 26th 1944 and returned to hospital again on December, 21st 1944. (page 12/13).
On page 15, please note the ink stamp with Feldersatz Btl. 331, dated September, 1st, 1944.
I think between February 1944 and December 1944 he served with this unit. He also received his G43 in summer (6/7/44) 1944. No need for a G43 rifle in hospital. ;-)

Sorry Wolfgang,

I was indeed wrong, I miss read the date on the hospital page.

On the control page he is listed as being with Feld Ersatz Batallion 331 on September 1944.
It seems that in 1944 he is also listed as being with AR1719, part of the 719ID.

To bad their are so many holes in it, so we aren't able to determine when he made his transfer.
Btw the 719ID fought in my neighbourhood in 1944.

I just checked the Lexikon and it seems that the 331ID was disolved compleetly on October 7 1944, so he was most likely transfered to AR1719/719ID in this period.
So we can also presume he was wounded the second time by shrapnel in Holland.

They say, it may take up to 12 months to get the documents.

Hello Wolfgang,

WASt doesn't cooperate anymore with collectors, and I don't blame them.


Today I did some extra reseach and it seems that the 719ID was already in the Saar area in early December '44, so that is the sector he was wounded the second time.

Mr. Haase served at two different NCO schools.
First at 3./ HUS (Army NCO school) Ortelsburg in April 1942, and in February 1943 at the 3./ HUS for artillery at Amberg.

PS: I did not find any info on the hospital he was admitted to on March, 26th 1945. Looks like: Reserve-Lazarett Bochdauersch. Page 12. Any idea?

Wolfgang, to me it looks like Bochdauetsch, but I can't find a town with that name.

I have a DUV G43 ser#4268 and wonder if someone else in his Unit was issued the one I have. It would be great to find the collector who may have the one listed in his Soldbuch.
