Need some feedback on Sportster BYF45

Hi Everyone!

New here! I am interested in purchasing this firearm and would love to get some feedback from the pros on here. Looking at purchasing this BYF45 that was converted into a sportster some time back. I am hoping to find a original stock and getting it back to somewhat how it left the factory.

The guy is looking to get $350 for it. Any help or insight would be helpful. I believe it has a matching bolt and receiver. Been trying to soak up as much as I can on the boards!

Thanks again! :hail:

Well worth the price. Rear sight assembly won't be hard to find but the correct stock WILL BE. And costly, appx $800-$1k I figure. Bands are around but not cheap either.

I agree, it deserves to be put right. You can put any stock and bands on it until the right ones come along.:happy0180:
How's the bore?

I was just doing some research! Woooo had to sit down for a second. Guess you gotta pay to play

It's more than I would spend on one in that condition, especially missing the rear sight base, but if you are up for a project and happy with the price, then go for it. As noted, a correct stock for a BYF45 is close to unobtanium but you can put it back into something representative for a lot less.

What would you put the value at? I totally get that on the stock. Not much out there

I picked up a complete rear sight assembly for a late byf for 25 a while back. And a duff cut stock for 150.
Have patience. Parts are out there!

IMHO,,dont buy it. Save your money and get an un-screwed with example. You may end up spending another 1500 or more on it trying to restore it. Nice examples of matching byf 45's can be had.
The original stock for this is in HIGH demand. I want one myself.

It you just throw parts on it, $350 is fine. If you’re wanting to have the gun as exactly as it came from the factory, pass. The cost will hurt and you’ll still have a restored gun.

I would for 350 but I enjoy rescue projects and have done several as I have stocked up on parts over time. Stocks are the most difficult to find and sometime cost as much at the rest of the gun It depends on how far you want to take it.

Here is one I'm just about finished with

BYF42 sporter.
