Recent pickup. Gas ports in bolt are oval, not circle.

Nice rifle. Looks like an Astrawerke bolt. Does it have a lower case "l" on the bottom flat? Astrawerke kept the oval holes and guide rib right to the end.

A lot of Astrawerke bolt bodies show up on byf45 rifles. They never switched to the simplified Kreigsmodel bolt type.

If it had a mauser produced bolt body it would have been a simplified type.

Mauser relied on F/N for bolts from 42 on and when they lost that source they used Astra werke. And in house bolts that they couldn't make enough of.

As already noted, I did not post pictures of the l on the bolt or the clear WaA cartouche on the stock, but will soon.

What makes you think that?

The shiney look, the dark spots in the wood and what looks like someone hit the recoil lug on the left with some sand paper due to the lack of finish on it.
Take some more close ups of the wood, esp the bolt cut out.

Thanks. Could just be the lighting, I don't believe anything has been done.

It may of just had some Howards put on it. Is the recoil void of some finish or was it just the pic. Missing finish there is a tell tale sign of sanding. These a blocks had fairly ruff stocks, not as bad as some but not as finished as earlier rifles.

i agree the stock has had some work done on it. Dark spots, shiny, smooth are all signs. Still a nice rifle though

Stock cartouches as well as the "l" on the bolt. I haven't done my research as to what the markings in the sling cut out are for.
