Hi All,

I have a K98 action that I'm rying to date and confirm any other production info of the receiver.

(Pretty sure the bolt is not a match)

the only marking on the top of the receiver is a serial number 9**B

the underside of the receiver is shown in the image

Does 'E' = Erfurt and the 'U U' = production block of late 1917?

any ideas on the other marks?

would really appreciate any ideas

TIA

Mark

Not a lot can be gleaned from what you show. The bottom receiver marks are simply in-house processing marks, i.e., machinist X did this procedure, inspector Y signed off on it. You'd need to show any of the above wood markings to have a shot at ID'ing the manufacturer.

Loewe could possibly ID it via such markings, given his studies of such things, but that may be a long shot.
