Real deal or repro Late war sling?

Here is a sling that came on an really nice original duv 44 K43 that I just picked up here on the trader. I cannot tell weather this is a real late wartime sling, or is it a reproduction? There are ink letters that I cannot read, but think maybe it said “made in Germany”. Please let me know what you guys think. I am looking to learn.

I have one of these in mint condition also stamped "Made in Germany". I have always been told that these are postwar commercial slings if they have the diamond pattern running in the opposite direction from a WW2 sling and have no leather pad sewn on the buckle. Not really meant to be a fake, just a good quality German made postwar sling.

I just couldn't resist! I've had that G43 for over 45 years that I can remember
and managed to keep it.

I have an identical sling that came with the blue "made in germany" stamp. Came new with a 1938 147 code my dad purchased in the late 60's at Hunters Haven/Interarms, Alexandria, Va. He also bought a new commercial grade P38 and holster that had the same blue stamp. Holster is typical of Bundeswehr issue. The sling is high quality material and fabrication.

I think the blue stamp was the applied as part of an import requirement, either by interarms or the exporter.

I don't think that the sling was a repo as we think of them now but post war made surplus , possibly from the Bundesgrenzschutz, Federal Border Police.

good to know, I know old West German G-1 fn fals used a similar sling with basket weave pattern that was identical to the gew 88 sling except for the end, for gew 88's that used the detachable sling swivels, the G-1 sling end is to thick and needs to be trimmed down to fit the detachable sling swivel

That's my thought. BTW my dad's was in dead new condition. Leather was extremely clean but very dry/stiff. Being a horseman dad treated it liberally with saddle soap like tack. It is still supple.

So what is "recommened"/approved" for very dry leather that will crack and break when bent? That is what products like saddle soap and neatsfoot oil are for. I have hundred year old saddles so treated that are still perfectly serviceable.

I use saddle soaps. On occasion a wee dab of vasiline at the bends to stop further cracking
