I'm a collector on a budget, and therefore all original matching numbers pre-war rifles and even bolt mismatches are out of my price reach. For that reason, I've had my eyes on this rifle for auction, and I'm wanting to know for my price range if anything better is available.

First, this is a problem gun. The parts are completely mismatched from what I can see, and the bolt is a fake hump job renumbered to match the receiver. The seller seems to be honest though and indicates as such in the description of the listing. I have interest in this rifle because despite the problems, I like that the stock and barreled receiver are original finishing and I can't see any evidence of sanding or anything else on there.

If I win the rifle, I intend to swap out the bolt for a Norwegian capture anyways. I'm wanting to see if I can win this for around the price of an RC - perhaps $700-750. Around that range, is this decent?

Will most likely go way over budget in the last hour or so. It’s the magical grey blanket effect.

I would agree with Big Shell. His auctions often trend way over what is seen as a normal price for the items involved. Not sure about investing in a new bolt for this being a total mismatch anyway. I think it would add another $100+ to an already overpriced rifle for what it is. The prices today for such rifles amazes me. Too bad the days of the budget shooter variety are gone!
