Doubtful a Portuguese contract rifle, they made them in 37 & 41 but all I have seen have the crest on top of the receiver, Mauser siderail and a prefix serial number, - yous is German, though originality depends on acceptance patterns. You might show the acceptance of the bolt, the cocking piece is BSW, which would be odd for Mauser, but really more pictures the better.

In all evaluations acceptance patterns are the most important thing to judge originality, all the makers have general patterns that are well documented, anomalies exist but are rare.

The earliest Port. contract rifles didn't have the crest on top and were marked this way, I see just barely the crest on the side of the stock. The Portuguese serial number is stamped on the stock on these.
