S84/98 Bayonet I forgot I had

I forgot I had this one. I bought it from a mans widow who said her husband was part of Lincoln Rockwells Neo Nazi group. She sold me a political flag and this bayonet. Its an all matching COF 44 serial no 5816 h. If I remember correctly I bought it about 20 years ago give or take. The lady had an Antique shop I stopped at and I always ask because some people don't want to put out German Third reich items. She had a few things. and I bought the flag and this bayonet. The grease is RIGs grease I put on guns or metal items when I am going to store them for a while. Its unshaped. I paid 100 bucks for way back then. Maybe that is what they were going for at that time.

sometimes is better give only gunoil to the surface, as some grease could be inhalted some water, anyway its probably correct cof44, in h range.

It looks like moisture got under the grease. You should remove all that grease. Check to see how deep that rust is getting. Wipe all the metal down with a light gun oil (I use Rem Oil) using a clean white cloth. A piece of old T-shirt works well. Turn the cloth as it gets dirty, the rust will stick to the cloth and can scratch the blue. If any area has deeper rust use extra fine bronze/brass wool and oil. Go slow, you do not want to remove any blue. If there is patina I would leave it be. Patina looks better than over cleaned. Just my opinion though.
