Rarity Scale
Very nice dagger indeed! They're great when they're in such good condition, but you can still see that they're old!
Although I have a few that look like they just came from the factory, which is great in terms of value, they sometimes lack the character.
Since it's already been said, yes it's a 7 out of 10 in rarity.
Yes Bob from OHIO is absolutely right, there's a copyright on the McSARR listing!
Mike McAlvanah gave me his last rendition (2013) when we he was able to make a deal with me for a very rare dagger! He even autographed it for me.
A really nice and knowledgeable guy! He had a client who, after the deal, ended up having an SA dagger from EVERY (!!!) maker there ever was.
Mine was an Artur Melcher (ARMESO), Solingen-Merscheidt. In the group of the rarest of the rare.
He had spent decades looking for one and saw mine on a forum and tried to get it from me. I refused because it was my very first SA dagger.
Since I kept refusing, after a couple of years he went for the "big guns" and sent Mike McAlvanah my way to try to make a deal. He is a very persistent man!!!
Knowing his client really wanted that dagger, I ended up trading it for a beautiful near mint Eickhorn partially ground Rӧhm. The inscription itself is untouched,
with parts of the name still legible. That's fine because if one needs to view the signature, I have a picture next to it signed by Ernst himself back in 1932!!
If anyone's interested, I can try to take a few pics of the dagger and picture and post them....
I find them more interesting than a full Rӧhm, because the original owner half-heartedly tried to file or grind off the name after the "night of the long knives".
So history really speaks through this thing!
I was happy with this because I bought the ARMESO back in 1986, and didn't want to shell out 2013 dollars for a Rӧhm dagger.
So it was a win-win situation!
