Looks like a closet gun, as long as it is all matching, I see no problem as far as the gun goes. Some guys like the rough closet find guns...

It all depends on what you are looking for.

Stock looks nice...

ETA I would also say, if offered by a member here, you are way ahead of the curve...much better than rolling the dice on GB...

What do you mean by closet gun? Left in a closet and not attended to? 2k is really beyond what I wanted to do. And for the money I’d like the prettiest / coolest rifle I can manage.

My goal is a matching War years gun that I can occasionally shoot.

Well, the reality is, all matching guns in primo shape are going $2500-$3500 anymore...

You may also consider a bolt mismatch gun, which would tend to be in the $750-$1300 range.

Closet gun, yes, as in the vet brought it back, and stuck it in a closet where it sat for 60 years...

In the 98k collector game all matching, un-molested, un-dinked with trumps pretty (prettied up) all day long...guys like them untouched, even if it means they don't look perfect, but everyone is different, so you have to come up with your own collecting ethos...

Nice out of the woodwork gun, If you’re looking for an matching rifle that’s not a bad option. That being said, nice ones pop up for sale here at least once a week so. If you have a certain price point in mind eventually I would bet on one popping up here that fits your criteria.

The rifle has a track record of selling for around $1700, done it twice apparently, so the price is reasonable. This rifle is not your typical byf/43, it is serialed in the byf/42 ranges and it is pretty early for these (they are common near the end of byf/42, almost all KK-LL blocks are byf/43 receivers, but a few group earlier and this is one of them...)

In short this is not your run of the mill byf/43, a very common rifle, it is a little more desirable even though the condition could be better.
