what is this number? under the weimar eagle?

this is stamped on the underside of the bolt handle, opposite the side where you normally see a s/n. noticed this on the bolt that came with the 39 bsw r/c i got a few weeks ago.

in case you are curious, i used a regular digital camera and an a/o spencer microscope to get this picture.

I'd say it's another 63 IE mauser 0berndorf. Thats the only thing that would make sense.
I'd like to see more photos using this technique. I like it. At first I thought it was stamp as the numbers looked raised. really cool..

Heavily struck Weimar E/63 on underside of bolt if I read it correctly.
Likely from late G date or 36 to early 37. Close?

oh i tell you, i use this technique a lot when photographing circuit board failures such as cold solder joints. it's not very difficult to get good pics also.
