Kkw & e/729

?????

well the thought was it was in the 267,000-268,000 The e/749 rifle show up in the 269,000 range..I think bob or jim might have a more narrow range on the serial #

nope

one can only assume the last batch of these were procured by the army. Some of the last are also zf41equiped. Most are flat new that I have seen. There is also a serial list in desperate measures by weaver That lists a bunch of kkw's issued to the volkssturm in Suhl proper. Makes sense. They used what was available locally.

They might have just handed them a bag of rocks to throw at the Russians.

I agree with mauser99, Army procurement is the only thing that makes sense.

MY "OPINION" is:

The E749 acceptance marks were either concurrent with or began shortly after the production of the Gustloff KKW was moved out to Buchenwald. All serial number research and observed manufacturing traits, oddities re-inforce that.

Further, it is logical.

Do I have definitive evidence? NO
