February 1945 Another Sporter for the Volksturm?

Way cool rifle! I think Weaver laid out the evidence well in his work. Hunting rifles were being confiscated to arm the Volksturm. Not likely there was a retail market for such after the fall of 44. Anything that could be built from scraps particularly if it chambered for the standard...

February 1945 Another Sporter for the Volksturm?

I have no intention of modifying these as they bear evidence of the period when the "Enemy was at the Gates". They are functional as built and if I live to see another fall and am able I may try to blood this second one on an Ozarks Whitetail.

February 1945 Another Sporter for the Volksturm?

See my thread on the first of these I acquired. https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/volksturm-sporter-from-november-1944.30621/ Here's another one. This one built from salvaged bcd 43 by a different Zella Mehlis maker (Hermann Schneider) with only a couple months left in the War. For the most...

    VZ24 Bring Back

Just acquired. First take down with all the rust and dust in pics. All match. Blued bolt, wrist plugged. Disc marked. Remnants of old sling cut down. Duffle cut. There was no numbering of small parts and the follower is still original beveled. The bore is as pristine as the bolt face in...

    EARLY Waffenstadt Suhl DSM34 w/ a concern....

Bolt may be questionable. But.. That is a nice early example one of the first. The Proof House records at Suhl show these were the first DSM's completed or submitted for proofing by all those makers in Suhl. Absolutely April 1934 production. By the way. Those records are not at the Proof...

1950 Zbrojovka Brno K98k configuration magazine fed .22 trainer

Fantastic pictures, great report. My take on it in previous thread. I hope we can eventually find more evidence regarding these two guns but I am not holding my breath. The only other thing I can think to add is that we know Czechoslovakia, East Germany and other Warsaw Pact countries and...

    1945 Brno 22 trainer

The only other thing I can think to add for now, is I reviewed an article I have which was written by the director of Zbrovoka Brno in 1958 which states that the gun was in development before the end of the war. Hence they were able to take the Model one version to market by the end of 1945...

    1945 Brno 22 trainer

Yes NO firing proofs which to me indicates was a prototype, tool room example only or perhaps one of a few made for testing or as samples for the customer. Pre- May 1945 that customer would have been the SA as they were in charge of all small bore marksman ship within the Third Reich. I thank...

    1945 Brno 22 trainer

People had to eat. A factory with upgraded equipment, skilled workers, left over material, NO MARKET for weapons, the world was flooded with surplus weapons, at least very little other than Israel for some time. They wisely turned to developing some of the best sporting rifles available. The...

    1945 Brno 22 trainer

Have acquired a gun I have long sought after which I believe indicates that Zbojovka Brno (Waffenwerke Brunn) had a trainer in development that did not see the light of day until war's end. Rather than duplicate my efforts, here is a link to a thread on Rimfire Central where I posted pictures...

    8x57j vs. 8x57JS vs. 8.57 "Norm"

Thanks for all that! Well I suspect a lot of .323 JS ammo has been put through some of these and it's a tribute to Paul Mauser you don't hear about more incidents resulting - Due to all that. That also explains why my gauges for JS worked and why when I chambered a fired JS case it came back...
