My fist mauser and barrel questions. UPDATED
Hello folks, I have more photos now and some more strange marks. I have also sendt the photos to Kongsberg armoury that re-chamberd and put new marks on the mausers after the war. And they said none of the marks are norwegian, so im not getting any...
Well. This is not a norwegian army mauser. I know very good how they look. As i have seen plenty. I dont have the flat spot on reciver. and all numbers scratched out. Mine came into privat handes after the war. On this thread u can see some photos...
im in the prosess as i write this, Dissasembeling the rifle. Stock is matching the rest of the WaA26. serial #4508 but not the handguard. Barrel is also WaA280 witch is the same factory as WaA26 "Mauser-Werke Borsigwalde" Cant find any serial on barrel. But also hidded was a stamp that looks...
Intresting thread. I just got my first k98 s/42 and im thinking mine could be like urs, exept for the dubble factory codes on the reciver. My k98 i S/42 #9071 with maching bolt. all the parts in the action is matching, exept magasin follower(WaA26) all the other parts and stock are also WaA26...
Update. My mauser finaly arrived yesterday. It was better then the seller described. But he also did not look much at the rifle when he had it. Barrel is ww2 german :D and not a post war replacements. There are 3 WaA on it (see attachment). So the markings that i asked about are still a...
They are mysterious. I talked to the guy today, whom i bought them from. He said he aquired them used in 1972. He had no idea where they came from. First i though they where norwegian army issue, but they dont look alike at all. and that stamp is not norwegian. After browsing alot of Pics of...

Dont have access yet to view full size photos of the link u gave me. From what i could tell from the small photos. looks like u have like i describe. Like this.
When my looks like this
Dont know if im just plain stupid. But to me thats a lot of difference. I mean with nothing in the action...
Well, If it was the totaly reworked rifle (30.06) with all new norwegian army and serial stamps. I wouldt care at all. To me that its not a k98 and their as cheap as dirt here. lol. Mine has all the original markings and most numbers matching. Witch means it came into privat hands after the war...
Any thought on whats the best way to get the stock a more original finish? from what i have gathered is stripping and BLO the way to go? i want it to also look a bit darker. Most likely about the rifle is that it came in to privat hands after the war, and the owner threw out the dirty old stock...
Yeah, u have been a lot of help. Thank you. And im really appriciating the comments here. Excuse my english btw. Im to lazy to google the spelling on words im not sure about. since most parts are matching numbers except some minor parts. And only damage done is the stock and what is probably a...
I see. Is yours the type that is converted to 30-06 and has all the serial numbers scratched over? Would stripping the stock to bear wood and then a cupple of layers with BLO be the best way to get it back to original?
