Russian Tula PEM sniper

MD nice Tula PEM always thought those piece were neat. I'm starting too think your getting one hell of a nice sniper collection. Keep it up buddy! And as Ham said tough, tough, tough too find I can't agree more. I never find them and when I do their Bubba specials.

It came from a friend. I had to pay a big premium but I was willing to because I wanted one really bad it is the only factory original I have ever seen. I am sure there are others but not many so didn't want to pass on the opportunity.

Thanks for sharing your rifle. Can you please post some more pictures? I would love to see the numbered parts and the inside of the receiver. Did it have it's original bolt? In my experience the vast majority of Finn captures had their bases and bolts removed.

Yes, this was one of the early CAI imports with the original holes for the base but no base. The bolt was straight and numbered to the rifle (I guess by the Finns) that was re-bent to sniper configuration.

Thanks for your kind words Warrior. I have snipers from every country during WWII but mostly collect German and Russian.

Caesar, o.k. I know what you are talking about. Your rifle is still very desirable. People like them a lot because they are as close to original as you can find. Thanks again for sharing.

BTW, do the holes in your receiver (for the base) go all the way through or is there no sign of them on the inside?

I wonder if Caesar's was done in Eagle, ID or by whomever knew George? Eagle, ID examples are usually pretty bad.

Traditional wisdom says that Tula PEM and PU snipers were not drilled through for the locator pins but were for the mounting screws. Is that the case on these? Izhevsk examples were drilled through for both.

Good tread for learning. A very rare rifle indeed Matt and worth a premium. Original metal finish can be found on quite of few of the 200 ish Finn examples imported but typically much less intact. Most will not be completely matching, especially the bolt. Original wood finish is almost unheard of. Amazing example and about as hard to find as a SS Double Claw. The Russians museums have nearly zip.

Thanks Mike. Yes the Finn guns are tough to find. The toughest thing to find is a rifle with it's original bolt and base. In your experience how many have you seen? You have been doing this a lot longer than I have. And please post some pictures of yours, you have a lot of them.

Correct, PEM side mounts and PU side mounts have mounting screws drilled through the receiver while the locator screws are not. The Top mount PE has no screws drilled through. And you are saying the the Izhevsk PEM side mounts have all four holes drilled though? If so can you please post a picture showing for my learning? Thanks buddy.

Are you talking about mine or Tokarev's? As far as I know, mine is real minus the mount and bent bolt.

I believe he is referring to Tokarev's rifle. There is a guy in Arizona that I have now linked 5 faked Russian snipers back to. Tokarev's is now a new one from him.

You're rifle (Caesar1) is a original sniper. But can't tell from the pictures if the other parts are original to the rifle but the barreled receiver is. Stock most likely is also. Feel free to post more pictures.
