Oh trust me I did, and intended to have fun with it. You guys are the brain trust and I am here to basque in the radiance of your k-98ness. :) I am hunting for information and knew the rifle was not a collector when I bought it thus in my discussion with the seller I plainly said "I am looking for a shooter." ( I heard the collective gasp of horror from the members on this board... :) actually shooting a rifle you own!??? Egad, James bring the defibrilator! ) Just hope you have patience with my posts.

Thanks! I appreciate the engagement...the rifle arrived last night and the auction pictures did it no justice...as I suspected the srial on the original scope is actually 40039 not "89" as the image on the auction seems to be. My FFL contacted me lat night at 9 pm to let me know it had arrived...I went straight over and got it, he's an excellent person letting me pick it up that late.

I am with you, I knew it would panned when I came here because it is not one that will be whored out for a few more dollars to feed my habit. :) I knew it was a shooter when I bought it and that is why I bought it, to shoot it. And it has priceless value since it will never be sold again...it has found its final collector and when it arrived I cleaned it up and put it in the safe until I go to the range with it.
 
Honestly. Who cares. No offense, but it’s a collector forum. This is the sniper section. There are way too many posts of how to make repro stuff. Maybe move to off topic area.

No offense taken, and it is not a post about making repros. I got what I came here for, the knowledge base, that's it. The sniping and snide comments? Well, there are better ways to communicate...now the one that "outed" it for me was the "you should bust them apart and fill in the scope mount holes then sell the original rifle and scope seperatrely" like I said, I am not whoring out rifles for a few more bucks so I can sit back drooling over my next "collector" purchase. It is a shooter, I am shooter, not some neck beard collecting whores for sale.
 
Maxsniper, don’t let some here dissuade you from sharing. True we are mostly collectors and this rifle won’t really peak our interest, but many of us shot also. There is no set rules for what can be posted here and there is no shortage of space.

Someone doesn’t like this thread? Simple solution, don’t click on it.

Oh Brother, I am here to stay...I knew I would get the dress down for it not being a safe Queen. :) I had fun with it, was not insulted, and hope my crass humor did not rub anyone the wrong way. Like I said, the Brain Trust here is what I wanted to tap into, and benefitted from even if it was just an affirmation of what I already know. Now someone threw out there "and that bolt is not original either!" I would disagree with that until he can bring his evidence...I know the mount is trash, but I like the scope and the rifle as they are both unquestionable authentic. Thanks for commenting I appreciate it.

Neckbeard! Glad to have drawn you away from masturbaqting over that original K-98 you are siting in the dark with there long enough to make a barbed comment, it was well received...and please, do make sure to use a linseed based lube okay? Would not want to get any vasaline on that original K-98 stock. Cheers!

It’s real simple Brian, don‘t click on this thread since it seems to upset you so much. I am sure there are people who don’t care for the things you post. That doesn’t give them the right to whine and complain in your threads you start (as you have done with the OP’s thread here).

Sure it would be great if everyday there where posts about legit, unmessed with, all matching, rare German snipers. But that doesn’t happen. And who is to say that the OP is not on his way to becoming a more advanced collector and this is where he is starting? Or maybe he is just a shooter. Either way, do we really need to chase off anyone who isn’t into the exact same things as us?
