MP.40 prices

But honestly how often is one out shooting their MP tat the price difference per round is a true factor? If you’re in the vintage Machine gun market I propose it isn’t. In addition with Dingo’s parts why not replace internals and blast away without worry?

Let me stumble across a hoard of buried treasure first. How would you describe firing the StG?
 
Mp40s in my opinion as I view them are 20-30k for C and R guns. I mean ive seen them go for more, but of course people think there the Main gun used by the SS, in the movies, I can't tell you how many guys I've talked to that have more money and bought the gun, then buying the books and bought the MP40 because it was issued to the Highest of the SS..... at 50k on 40s sometimes I just don't see it as you mentioned ham, you could get into a 34 or 42 for that much. I paid about that for my 42, and think it was worth every penny, compared to a 40.
 
I have an MP43 that I shoot a couple times a year. I bought a bunch of privi partizan ammo a couple years back. It fires flawlessly and at a nice low cyclic rate. Very comfortable. It throws brass 40 feet away and makes it difficult to find. Was watching a friend shoot it and caught the mouth of a casing in the center of my forehead. It cut me like a cookie cutter!
I also have an MP40 that I enjoy shooting much more. I don’t know why. It’s a very handy weapon that feels good in the hands

I think the unique aspect for me is that it fires from a closed bolt coupled with there's a lot of metal moving violently a long distance during cycling. To me, those aspects combined make the firing feel very unique. All told though it is rather docile and easy to hold point of aim during full auto fire, just feels like a machine gun should to me.

The Mp40, like other 9mm submachine guns feels like a pop toy - fun, but not the same.

I think that’s why it’s called a “sub”machine gun. It’s pistol caliber. The Germans seem to have found them worthwhile going by period photos ;)

In 1997 David Cook (RIP), the president of the Dallas Militaria Collectors, called me and said he had like 25 nice all matching transferable MP.40s and he was selling them all. He said I could have first crack at them and could have any of my choosing for $2000. At that time I was fairly fresh out of law school, but single so I had walking around money to at least shoot over to Dallas and buy several. However, I thought about it and figured, PITA, wait time, and heck, for $2500 I could buy five K98ks! That haunts me to this day.
