First Luger. Matching G-date in excellent condition.

Hello everyone!

This is my first Luger I purchased today!

This example is a 100% matching G-Date with one matching mag. Blue rates about 95%

I couldn't me happier. Big thanks to philip for his knowledge and guidance on this.

(Photos with red background are from the sellers website as I do not want to disassemble this yet.)

You arent the first to point that out. Honestly I dont know. The wear on it matched everywhere else, even on the inside. Phil who helped me doent seem to think so. I know these arent the greatest pics but im not a fan of disassembling this gun so they are the best I will have.

Tried enlarging them and zooming in, both just made the photos turn grainy. If you have a couple of it actually on the pistol that are clear that would help. From what I had seen you wouldn’t need to take it off.

Aren’t they a puzzle though. One of my favorite things about P.08s is that they are primarily held together with tension and a few pins. Over generalizing of course, but they are functional art.

Side plate looks original finish to me. I think it's just the way light it reflecting off the pistol. German pistols are so difficult to photograph.

That is my take also . . .
Sideplate looks “dished” out somewhat . . . .no “halo” around stamped number.

I’m talking about the number stamped on the side plate . . .
I do NOT see a halo there . . . .even after I enlarged the pic to the maximum!

Yes I am referring to the side plate. Looks like a halo on my screen.

Again, this is the difficulty with Lugers. They are so tough to photograph.

If possible, I would like to see a good image that is larger than a postage stamp of the backside of the side plate.

I agree with @mdarnell19, side plate is fine. Color of the blue is exactly as it should be. It’s just had an easy life. OP fantastic example, congrats!
