Help: 1938 42, but reject?

I value my reputation too much to flip a Mitchell's to some poor sucker who doesn't know any better. It's not much, but it's something.

I'm not suggesting that you lie about what it is or where it's from. Some people just want a shiny rifle and don't care. But I understand, that's a fair point.

I was going to get this rifle as a shooter. I thought the “star” or “asterisk” was like early WW1 Mausers being built out of rejects. Sucks that it’s really just an RC.

Seller appreciated the info and ended up just keeping it.

I've always suspected that that's what Mitchell's was going for when they did that. Such a dumb modification to the capture stamp and trying to sucker people into thinking it's like a Sterngewehr is really the only logical answer.

Trigger guard is off a G98, not a k98. Steer clear. The thing is force-matched. Probably assembled from parts Mitch had lying around.

How many Pesos are being asked señor?
He went high and said 1300 based off of gunbroker. Seller was honest and said he doesn’t know the market and that gunbroker over prices things.

Once I got confirmation here, I gave him the story on it and a real value. Said like 600 tops if he really wanted to maximize the value lol.

It wasn’t matching at all, and it’s a PW Arms import.

We were wrong but hey he knows now!

Usually, Mitchell`s would stamp the receiver`s/ barrel`s serial number on the bolt. This one has the serial number from the side of the stock stamped on the bolt and bolt sleeve.
