Authentic Kar98k "dot 1943" ?

Hello everyone,

First time posting, I wanted to ask about the authenticity of the markings for attached Kar98k photos. If the markings of the rifle seems genuine, what is the average price they go for?

Furthermore, I noticed that there is a mismatch in the serial numbers. Is that common with Kar98s? and should it lower the price of the rifle?

From the basic research that I have done, the "dot" marking is from the Waffenwerke Brunn factory in Czech Republic.

Sorry for the bad images, I will add more when I get my hands on it :)

Authentic in that all the parts were made by the Germans or under German control . Not authentic in that it is mismatched and and the bolt root has been ground and renumbered to match the rifle . Serial number on the stock is also not a German thing g, so it is likely the stock is also a mismatch from another rifle . Yes, all of these issues would reduce the value, significantly . It’s a reworked capture rifle .

I appreciate your reply! you suspect they top of the bolt handle was renumbered? I am planning to inspect the rifle personally, is there anything more I should look for?

Look through the picture reference thread and the dot 43 rifles posted there . Note the location and style/font of all the markings . Note what markings get shown by other members . That will give you a good idea of what and where to look for marking on the rifle to check its authenticity.
