German K98 Mauser - 1942 with CR marking?

Hello. New here. My name is Damon. I have owned this K98 rifle since around 2006. Paid $300 for it back then and wanted to know more about it for anyone with more knowledge.

It has the German eagles, but have been pinned out at the bottom. It is from 1942. It has two letters which appear to be CR on it? I am really not sure what it is or means. Any ideas? What factory. How much it's worth. Anything about it.

I will post more photos soon.

It is numbers matching on all parts also. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Seems some numbers match. Some don't. Not sure what most mean. Here are some more photos for anyone interested.

You have a Russian capture JP Sauer. It is typical that there are very few parts that match. You said the stock matches? Can you show a picture of that number? I am assuming it is a horizontally placed serial on the left side of the butt stock. Also typical of a Russian capture along with the “X” on the receiver.

Thanks for the info! Yeah it is exactly how you described. On the left side horizontally. I'll try to reload the photo. It said too large to submit.

Yes Russians force matched that serial number during refurb. If the bore is good, you have an awesome shooter and I would say maybe $600-$800 although I’m not close to the Russian captures market. The peening of the eagles could make it on the lower end.

the marking is “CE” which was one of the codes assigned to JP Sauer as Tjv noted. this one is known as a ‘script’ CE, they also used block letters at another time.

Sorry didn’t see same info posted in other thread.

Oh cool. That's interesting. I haven't seen many script CE's so figured I'd reach out here to the experts. Thanks for the info.
