Description says "rare and exceptional"... Sure but for the wrong reasons.
Will someone bother to send the images to RIA and make them aware? Also, please post the link, now that it is outed as fake. I really wonder on the description.
This 100%.......edit: this is one of my huge problems with RIA. For such a "high end" auction house their pictures SUCK and frequently leave you more in the dark about what you're bidding on than the worst GB lilistings.

Of course they don’t care, why would they? Please, RIA doesn't care. This isn't the first bad item they've had slip though, and it won't be the last. They're a known name among the doctor/lawyer/well to do computer toucher set (and yes, they do have some very unique stuff that any collector would want, I'm not saying they're all BS) and their reputation is going to be fine no matter how much a bunch of rifle nerds on message boards might spot bad stuff from time to time.
I have an occupation GP-35, holster, and two mags that was from a vet local to me. Maybe I should shite out a 3 paragraph essay about how he personally took it from a dead SS guy and then I can tack on +$3k when I sell it. Since a “he said she said” is just as good as Army bring back papers apparently.since we are on the subject, what do you all think of this item: item 413, same auction.

Mauser "byf" Code "42" Date Model 98K Bolt Action Rifle Documented as the War Trophy of a Bastogne VeteranIncluded with this rifle is a 1994 dated letter from a previous owner, which lays out a chain of possession from himself, to the Trigger Hill Trading Post of Salinas, California, to a 1st...www.rockislandauction.com
Story aside.
Possible to do a records check via a PI but it would be a bit of a long shot imo. Nice looking rifle tho and hopefully it's accurately described. 7,500 to 10,000 tho is.....steep to say the least.I have an occupation GP-35, holster, and two mags that was from a vet local to me. IMO no change to auction.
I would be surprised if they do anything to adjust the description or pull item.
I will update this post if I hear anything from them.
Well at least they acknowledge its a force matched bolt now. Better than passing it off as a perfect example.I see the description has been adjusted to say: "The bolt has been renumbered to match.". The estimated hammer price has not been changed, nor has the rest of the description, except for this...: "Provenance: The Bruce Karem Collection; Private Collection." Bruce, I hope they cleared that statement with you first.
Good Afternoon! Thank you for this information, We have submitted a correction to the description. -Melissa Roelens-CSR-III
Nice that they updated the description, but if I didn’t know and looked up the name and saw the books, I would feel like it has more value to it. And renumbered to match could mean a lot of things besides faked to a casual buyer. Still not an honest description.I had submitted a question too, providing them a link to this thread here so they could look at the pictures posted themselves. This was the reply that I got (which must have happened at the same time the description was correctened):
Maybe getting an item outed in public with pictorial evidence put enough pressure on them to make this correction. The added provenance of Bruce Karem collection is pretty hilarious though. Almost now sounds as if @bruce98k did the force match.
