So i just got my rifle built by Eric to the range, was shooting ppu 198 fmj BT. Was 6 inches low good windage, if someone could help me with a diagram or something on how to reset the dial. Unfortunately when it comes to this sort of thing I have the intellectual ability of an oyster and any help is appreciated!!!

There are 3 screws on the top of the dial, back them out just enough with a precision screwdriver until the BDC dial turns freely without moving the turret/reticle.

The focus adjuster on top will have to be turned to access the 3rd screw.

Turn the dial to set the BDC to where you're zero'd (i.e. 1 to 100 meters, 3 to 300m), then tighten them back and you're done.

Also it should be noted that PPU 8mm is way underpowered and will shoot low in all 98ks compared to wartime spec ammo. Try S&B instead, which is pretty close to full powered. I've had PPU shoot a couple feet low and clocks in like 400 to 500fps slower than the good stuff. The other PPU calibers don't seem to be underloaded but 8mm is apparently due to some safety reasons

When you're referring to the bdc is that the dial im turning to adjust range?

Yes it's the ring with the lines and numbers, when screws are loosened it rotates freely of the rest of the turret so you can "reset" it to use the BDC (ballistic drop compensator) scale.

Also as others have stated if using PPU 8mm it tends to shoot very low compared to traditional german 8mm or S&B ammo.
