Mint Wehrkreis XX S42G

Haha .. I simply love this forum for discussing such small details and sub-sub-sub-variants in great depth, comparing them to others, and all that in a respectful manner. For the benefit of all. Sorry for that OT.

I'm really looking forward to more pictures of the rifle you are looking at @cj556 - do you mind telling what the asking price is?

BTW, thanks @RyanE for another one with the FP additionally on top of the barrel.

Maybe should measure the height of the letters on the bolt, if that is of any help ..

Haven’t established a price yet but will keep you all updated. Apologies for derailing and reviving the thread too Abslout.

Had the rifle in hand today but didn’t purchase under due to concerns about back half of bolt but figured I’d post here.

Did you do a full picture set and measure the height of the letters on the bolt? I know I still owe you information on the letter height on my rifle.

Edit: personally if considering something mismatch I'd nevertheless point out to the seller what and why I consider to be a mismatch/force match and therefore make a counter offer, if the rifle nevertheless is of interest to me. With one like that, I'd had done that.

Edit2: I am really keen, did you check the rear barrel band as to whether it has the full rifle serial or only two digits? Would be highly interested to find out as to how much it matches my rifle.

Pulled the bolt of my rifle, attached mobile phone pictures. Surface does look similar, likely scrubbed bolt that got matched to the rifle. Letter height is 4mm on bolt root. I think the bolt from the rifle you were looking at has good chances to match the bolt of my rifle.

Check the 8 on backside of the handle, right next to the firing proof. Maybe that is an adding during assembly. Would be interesting to know whether the rifle you were looking at has this too.

Is there an “8” on any other major assemblies such as on the underside of the receiver and on the inside on the triggerguard unit Absolut? Some facilities commonly stamped assembly numbers on parts like this.

I recently acquired an xx serialed rifle. XX91 . It is a Spandau gew 98 receiver converted to k98. Very odd. It has an Erma marked barrel ( with sight hood). Floor plate is not marked. The safety is shortened and the receiver is drilled for an SSR base. Bands are mid war unmarked. Stock is also mid war.

I don’t unfortunately ( I am now very far away from the seller) I couldn’t determine if a third band is off. I will reach out to him to see if there’s any assembly numbers on the bolt though.

I think I did find something like that on bottom of receiver, but not on mag (or I didn‘t see it). Attached some detail shots of stuff I saw while taking it apart. Anyone an idea as to what circled EE on the barrel means?
