Anyone familiar with the stamp/marking found on the trigger guard of this T-Gewehr .....? Best image that I have. Possibly Ba > 4 in a double circle? Or something similar. Many thanks in advance.

WMO did start using subcontracted parts on Gewehr 98s in 1917, especially bayonet lugs, floorplates, and trigger guards, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they used them on Tankgewehr also. My recent 1917 WMO has a similar mark on the bayo lug, and I’ve seen it on the same spot on other Gews, but I have yet to find one with a really clear, decipherable stamp.

Thanks guys for the comments. Agreed that the marking screams subcontractor. And without doubt, subcontracted parts were used by WMO during production of the Model 1918. Have been compiling a list of the subcontracted parts and markings found on Tankgewehr for some time. Hopefully we can identify more of the various markings and link them to the appropriate makers in time. Thanks again ....

Is it a double circle, or is that the effect of a single circle struck, and the material displaced by the strike creates high points inside & out. (looking at the way the numerals appear outlined in white) as for what’s inside, yup, got the ‘4’, but above ..?

You could certainly be correct @Muncher 1953 and your thoughts are appreciated. Better photographs would definitely help .....

Good Afternoon,

I do not see that mark on my #265 T-Gewehr. Makes sense that as production increased, or the call for an increase got louder, subcontractors became necessary.
