I don't typically share or post to the TR section, however, I couldn't help myself with this one... It's a very nice 1934 "C" Block "DR" marked Mauser Banner. Pretty textbook, and easily the most commercial gun I have ever owned. I picked this up last fall from a small auction house in southern Pennsylvania. The same auction house where Jory picked up that exceptional SSZZA4, and I suspect, from the same original owner, as it came in an almost identical condition (very dusty). Shout-out to Jory for giving me a little nudge on this one. Happy to have taken the plunge!
Everything matches with the exception of the bolt shroud. The bolt shroud is still of the DRP/DR high polish blue commercial type, and is marked as such on the underside. Rather puzzling that the cocking piece, safety, and firing pin are all still original matching, but you won't find me complaining. Could have been a period replacement or mix-up but who knows. It was very tricky taking these photos, given the commercial high-polish blue, which borders on doubling as a mirror. Beautiful walnut stock (which I'm always a sucker for) and with an exceptional bore. Appears to have been unfired. Likely sat out the war in an office or something.
It also came with a comparable condition Mauser Banner muzzle cover as an added bonus.
