1940 147 #2236 g possible depot repair?

Hello looking for more opinions on the 1940 147. All numbers are “matching” the stock appears to be a replacement with the old numbers “xxxx” out the stock also looks to me to have a “42” with xx stamped over it on the bottom end by the butt plate.
The barrel also appears to me to be a replacement. Notice the different fonts between the receiver stamp and the barrel stamp. On the bottom of the barrel there is also a rather large 37 firing proof.
The buttplate appears to have been restamped with the correct serial number. The bayonet lug and the front sling band are both numbered 36 with the waffen 655 stamp for Mauser.
Any insight is appreciated this is an interesting rifle in my opinion

Looks good to me. The stock looks like it was an mauser oberndorf armorers replacement stock that was previously mated to another rifle before it found its way on yours. The barrel appears to have been replaced also. Is the barrel marked 0,2 on the shoulder?

Rather interesting that is doesn't have a steel lot code. Would be really neat if it's a depot spare JP Sauer barrel.

The only marking on the shoulder I can find is 7/9

All markings that I can see on barrel are
Serial # 2236 g
Barrel code ceci with two small 37 proofs which is a sauer barrel but sometime after 1942
One large 37 proof on the bottom of barrel
And a 7/9 on the top of the shoulder
 
What I see regarding the barrel is standard JPS made/marked from early '44 production. ce for Sauer production with ci for the lot code. No date code used at this point.

Ahh thank ya for the correction. Very neat it has a 44 time frame barrel.

Yes. Somehow this barrel got mated to this rifle. I don't get any sense this is a post-war construct, but that's more feel than facts. I suppose JPS certainly could have still been producing spares in early '44.

I should add the lack of 0,2 on the shoulder gives me pause that this barrel was specifically made for/in the depot system. This late I suppose that could be the case. Couldn't find anything about it in the JPS section or depot section.

The front sight is 655 proofed another Mauser part
The rear sight components are overstamped you can see a 6 in between the first 22
It appears the rifle must’ve gone through some kind of catastrophic damage to the stock and the barrel

JPS was definitely producing spares like barrels even into 1944 from what I understand.

As to this being a post-war creation. My thinking is that it does follow the depot rework trends. Every depot had their own “tweaks” or characteristics in how they rebuilt/repaired rifles.

A humper/forger I don’t think would go to this level of thoughtfulness in creating this. They have a hard enough time making “matching rifles”. The x’s in the stock channel for example, most forgers have the area steamed and then sanded down to hide the original number. The new barrel serial and suffix and firing proof, the keel of the stock with the XX… I mean, if someone did create this I have to tip my hat to them. They had some real knowledge of depot reworking and a really good set of dies. It just wouldn’t add up, at least to me. The missing 0.2 on the barrel shoulder does give me slight pause as well but I am under the impression that not every depot did that. Just like not all the depots filed the “timing marks” into the receiver and new barrel….

I’m 100% convinced it’s legit.
 
The more I look, the more I see. The receiver has that distinctive Sauer cursive font for the g letter block. Looking at the barrel applied suffix, it's apparent this wasn't done at the Sauer factory. At least that's my take.

That’s what I was saying earlier I tried to post the pics next to each other. The barrel g isn’t sauer. And if you look at the font on the butt plate it looks very similar to the barrel font
