Happy to see this went to a fellow forum member. I too was looking at this rifle as a companion to my other 45 assembled bcd4, however the seller was very cryptic at answering any questions which put me off.

Was this over at Mikes Gun shop in Levittown, PA? I vaguely remember seeing something like this a couple of weeks back.

Very interesting, I'll pull out my 2 bcd rifles and my SS contract and take a look. I'll post pics tomorrow or Wednesday depending on time.

Well I gave it a go and it took the varnish right off. I still need to apply a bit more in some area's of the stock but it took it right off the bolt take down disc with no effort. As to the SVW TG I thought the same thing at first but I recalled seeing one on an L block in the 53k range however...

Thanks guys! Any suggestions on how to remove the varnish without causing any kind of damage?

Thank you, In terms of possibly shooting it, I assume reloading would be my best bet? I've been told Remington 8mm Core-Lokt is safe to shoot but I would love to hear what you guys think.

Here's a pic of the stock. I'm not entirely sure if it has been sanded or not. The only real problem it had when I got it was a lot of surface rust below the wood line. I lucked out and managed to clean most of it up with some bronze wool and hoppes.

Hi guys, I picked this beauty up a few months back for $250. Finally got around to taking some pictures of it. From what I can tell everything is matching except the bolt head. I am new to collecting Imperial Era rifles and I would love to learn more about the markings on it.
