first time mauser buyer. need help

I would request some wide angle shots where you can see the entire rifle from both sides. I would also ask the seller what makes them think the stock is matching. Based on other bcd 4 examples that stock would be entirely incorrect since Gustloff (BCD) switched to using cupped buttplates around...

first time mauser buyer. need help

Hello, Some more detailed photos of the rifle would help in determining a value. I do however think that the stock is not original to this rifle. By 1944 the flat buttplate had been phased out in favor of the cupped buttplate style stocks. As far as the bolt mismatch goes, it is very common to...

    Just bought a 1944 byf k block

The D you are referring to is part of the barrel lot code, which indicates where and when the barrel was produced (44 representing 1944). Also do you have any wide angle shots of the rifle? The buttplate is from 1942 so it could be a replacement or it was a 42 plate that was left over. The...

    Just bought a 1944 byf k block

"Rune" marking looks like a scratch, but it's hard to tell with the low amount of light in the photo. The shield marking is just a stamp manufactures did late in the war on barrels. Hard to tell from the photo but should have letters byf on the shield. As far as "D" mark is concerned, could you...

    BNZ 41 Sling

I am in the middle of restoring a sporterized J block bnz 41 mauser and I am wondering what would be considered a correct sling for this rifle?

    Just bought a 1944 byf k block

Sadly it's just wishful thinking, Mauser Oberndorf (byf) did not produce SS contract guns. The manufacture that did however was Steyr-Daimler-Puch which used the factory code BNZ. The rune marking you are talking about would typically be located in between the BNZ stamp and the year of...

bnz. 41 lacking common proofs??? (Now with pics)

Nice looking rifle. I just picked up a 3 digit serial J block BNZ 41 myself that was a vet bring back. The markings on mine are exactly the same with the one WaA623 proof on top the receiver and three on the barrel. The rest of the parts are e/77 proofed.

What would be a good price for this '38 K98 42 code?

I've seen code 42's go for $1500 in this shape.

YUGO Mod 98 better PIX German SN left on ?

Were you able to find any intact WaA marks on it? I managed to find Mauser Oberndorf WaA 655 marks on under the rear sight, trigger guard, firing pin, and bolt take down lever. It also has a Mauser WaA 63 proof mark on the underside of the bolt handle. I did also find what I believe to be 2...

    bnz. 41 lacking common proofs???

I have also come across an oddball bnz. 41(non Russian capture) that is pretty much the same. It has a 3 digit serial with no letter suffix on the barrel/left side of the receiver and the WaA623 on the top of the receiver with only a single 77 code on the right side of the receiver. The rest of...
