I only have two T99s, both 'last ditch.' I'm not sure I like them because the woodwork is so shoddy. It's going to take me all day to sand this one down.

    My 1944 dot

Vulch, sounds like you made out even better. As you know, that one 44 is a little less common than the usual common dot44. I'll post a thread on it later. I don't want to hijack fuzzy's thread, but if you can't wait i can send you some pics if you want. Did you notice the coincidence to this...

    My 1944 dot

They found on others as well. On page 46 of the kriegsmodell book is an example of the same round welds on a qnw floorplate seen on a bcd4 rifle. A more specific question may be has these round welds been seen on another subcontractor floorplate other than qnw?

    Cleaning binoculars?

Well, since I am now priced out of k98s, that leaves more funds for other stuff. The ordinance tan cag dienstglas is my latest. It came in a red bakelite case with a 44 dated belt strap. One of the oculars is cloudy inside. I'm tempted to have it cleaned so I can actually use them. On the...

Am I the only one thinking of getting out of k98 collecting?

You are not alone. I'm thankful I still have a job, but I'm working more and taking home less. So it's hard for me to justify paying the high prices. I guess maybe I'll find another hobby, like maybe collecting Beanie Babies. Oh wait, those are pricey too.

    dou43 and dou44

Me too. My understanding was the plum color occur more often with spring steel such as extractors and bolt stop springs. But shows up on bolt bodies and barrels too. Also seems more common with the later czech guns.

    dou43 and dou44

I took these two side by side as a comparison. The '43 is one of the earlier white glue for dou and the '44 is one of the earlier skm for dou which started during 'ee'.

    Combat Wear

Any thoughts on these? I see this on many of my stamped floorplates. The two on the right are blued. I can see how holding wear causes the loss of bluing on one end, but seems the change is too well demarcated to be caused by a hand. Is is some method of storage where something is in contact...
