Stain to use on byf 41 stock restoration

Here it is... So, I finished the job, I ended up not refinishing the original parts, I stained and BLO'd the repaired area - it isn't perfect but it looks pretty darn good if you ask me. I used an unmarked front band, bayo lug and spring, everything else is original to the gun and matching #'s.

    My depot build restored!

Nope That isn't it, mine didn't have a Geco barrel, I can't remember for sure what one it had, but I know where it is still.

    bcd4 restoration.

info I have a three digit 'C' block bcd 4 I have been restoring slowly, I found an unmarked un-numbered stock for it, metal all matching #s, unmarked bands on it. It has a milled t guard and floorplate. I had to replace the rear sight base as someone ground the lip for the HG off. I have an...

    My depot build restored!

Xxi So, I had a VZ 24 re-build with the same XXI marking, that denotes 21st military district I thought? Guess I shouldn't have sold it? It was #s matching though I had it in a replacement early flat butt laminated stock the same as yours. Hope I didn't screw myself!

Stain to use on byf 41 stock restoration

true dat I think that is what I'm going to have to do, I am taking the cut off 'chunk' of the stock to the hardware store to see if there is a stain close to it, I'll also add it to the BLO and apply it over as BLO has a habit of removing stain.

Stain to use on byf 41 stock restoration

Finish Well, the original stock has a reddish hue to it with some striping. The replacement 1/2 is lighter and has no red to it. The only way to rectify it seems to be to strip the whole thing and re-do it as there is an area he had to sand to match the two halves and frankly, I would rather...

Stain to use on byf 41 stock restoration

Some of you have seen my extremely poorly done bubba the hut cut byf 41 rifle stock here - http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread.php?4957-Bubba-the-Hut-Strikes-Back-on-a-41-and-42-byf!! I picked up the rifle today from the guy who grafted on the donor front end from the busted Portugeuse 41...

Bubba the Hut Strikes Back on a 41 and 42 byf!!

Stock repaired So my wood guy called me earlier this week - the graft has taken hold and not been rejected :biggrin1:. I will pick the rifle up in a week or so and put some pics up. He said it turned out better than he thought and for all the hours spent to do the repair only $100. I need to...

    Question on stock

Numbers Does it happen to have a serial number in the bbl channel or underneath on the butt?

    RC ce 43 SSR?

price Not cheap, about $700, that's why I am somewhat reluctant. If it wasn't a RC, it would be here already.

    RC ce 43 SSR?

Pics Here it is, tell me what you guys think. Not sure it is too early serial # wise, but conversion wise that may be the case.

    RC ce 43 SSR?

Just saw a ce 43 (IIRC) Russian Capture tonight - has the thick top of the left sidewall and a milled flat where the side markings would be - can't tell for sure but I believe the holes were welded shut (as they did with ex-91/30 snipers) but they were machined as the side and inside rail the...

Some nice parts I have accumulated over the years (or decades)

LU So the LU guard is a bit rarer as I thought then? It came on a ar 43 4 digit c block rifle that had been completed by Sauer as it had 280 proofs and ce marked barrel though with 37 WaA on the barrel. The right receiver WaA was 280 as were those on the matching #s bolt assy, rear sight assy...

Some nice parts I have accumulated over the years (or decades)

ID I looked through BBOTW and couldn't find any rifles with that lug marking. This is the surface of my collection, also have lots of safetys, trigger assys, bands of all types, some other small stuff. Has come in handy to rebuild a couple bubba'd rifles over the years. Used to be a lot...
