    Seitengewehr 98/05 aA Erfurt W08 6.A.F.8.145.

I’ve been having a lot of luck with Artillery bayonets lately. Here is a matching scabbard W08 Erfurt. No major revelations in terms of acceptance, but good to have another documented example. Marking is 6th foot artillery regiment, 8th battery, 145th weapon. Here is the history of...

    1903 Spandau

I should clarify, the style of restamp is absolutely plausible; you often see new numbers stamped over old and it is common with fakers to completely scrub away the old number. That said, the main issue is with the font. Look at the 4s, they lack serif on the bottom, they are even reminiscent of...

    1915 DWM 4304 local pickup

Nice find, Jack! That odd duffle cut repair is pretty cool really. Thanks for the good photos, I’ll get it in the reference.

    1903 Spandau

I’d argue that the bolt body is not legit depot. If the buttplate had a depot number or the wrist a Bavarian acceptance mark I’d say it’s plausible, but the font is too consistent with the obviously fraudulent striker assembly. The new numbers are overstruck, which is a depot practice, but the...

    1908 DWM Gewehr 98

Nice find! Thanks for posting it here. Can you break it down and take a photo of the serial number inside the barrel channel of the stock? Judging from the wrist acceptance, this is a Bavarian rebuild and likely the stock was salvaged from another Gew.

    Dresden Sterngewehre Serial Numbers

No number block 1916 Dresden. Not quite a new low but definitely lower than most 1916s.

    Radfahrer Gew 98, Spandau 1914 SN 1420

Incredible find, Sam. Great to see another Radfahrer in detail and add it to reference. Glad it all worked out, this rifle is finally where it was meant to be. Hard to say at this point if there were part of Spandau's regular production line or were a separate set of numbers. The one complete...

    1915 Danzig 8441 a Gew98

Great Bavarian rebuild! A few of these have popped up lately, it's fascinating to see. Since there is no marking on the buttplate itself i'm thinking this was done by Amberg.

Imperial Air Service 1918 Spandau LMG 08/15 #320b

Great to see one of these in such detail! Awesome find, i added it to the reference.

    P08 Erfurt 1911

Great P08, Sam! Thanks for the background information, so much to learn about these it can be intimidating.

    1906 DWM Navy Gew 98 2072 1st Matrosen Division / Werft Kiel

That's a beauty, Alex, congrats! I added it to the reference. Love the double unit marks, just like DWM 1901 8253 and that bayonet.

    Gew98 - DWM 1917 475r

Exceptional DWM. Thanks for the detailed photos, great for study; i added it to the reference.

    Gewehr 98 WMO 1917 4243n Ex-Scharfschutze

Definitely! The bore is as nice as the rest, can’t wait to put some rounds on paper after it’s done. Thanks, Mike! I was pretty shocked by the rod, probably the only factory rod I have, and it’s on a Turk.

    Gewehr 98 WMO 1917 4243n Ex-Scharfschutze

That is interesting, i had heard that about Peruvian Mausers but not Turks. I wonder what the Turks did with the scopes and bent bolts, wouldn't surprised me if they were scrapped along with the mounts. Thanks! It seems odd that they would have reblued them when the mounts were attached, they...

    Gewehr 98 WMO 1917 4243n Ex-Scharfschutze

Thanks, everyone! I’ll post photos once it’s been re-snipered.

    Gewehr 98 WMO 1917 4243n Ex-Scharfschutze

My understanding is that importers added prefixes when brining in Turkish Mausers. Not sure why, especially considering the existing suffixes, maybe it had to do with the batches of rifles they brought in.
