    SPANDAU 1911

Exceptional Gewehr! Not only is the condition absolutely wonderful, but it's a rare date and seems to have escaped any wartime rework. Thanks for posting photos, i'll get it in the reference.

    WMO 71-84

That's a hell of a find, Marc! Glad you snagged it, definitely not one to hesitate on. When you get a moment, could you get photos of the date on the receiver and the rear sight?

Cashing in on the Knowledge of Others

This has come up before, but twice recently I’ve noticed that people gather information from knowledgeable contributors on this forum, only to go and use the information to help sell. It’s happened occasionally in the past but seems to be becoming more common. It rubs me the wrong way, to the...

What happened to my 1918 AMBERG?

Second that. Looks like a Russian captured K98k stock and mostly K98k parts. The barrel being 24 inches yet retaining the Lange sights makes me wonder if it was an Inter Arms import, those were usually hacked.

    G98/ Sterngewehr Spandau 1916 /17

It's a Dresden assembly, those can fetch a little more than your average wartime Gew. Any more photos? Condition looks good but there seems to be finish loss.

    Gewehr 98 Amberg 1917 4287u

Yes, I and J were interchangeable so they didn’t use both letters.

    Gewehr 98 Amberg 1917 4287u

Great Amber, Hale! I added it to the reference. As Chris mentioned, additional photos would be good if you get a chance. Also there should be corresponding numbers on the back of the bolt handle and bottom of the receiver, would be good to have those for the study, too.

    Matching 1918 Erfurt Kar98a Markings/Value?

What’s the matter? I’m sure all of you who took time to help him are going to get a few hundreds passed your way when he sells it!

    Gewehr 98 DWM 1901 8253 Kaiserliche Marine

Thanks for the comments, everyone! As you can imagine, I was thrilled to get this one and unit it with the bayonet. The meet up Thursday at SoS was awesome. It was great to see everyone and talk collections over drinks. I’m incredibly glad so many of the contributors to the Imperial section...

    Gewehr 98 DWM 1901 8253 Kaiserliche Marine

And the unit marked disc. The first side, with the acceptance stamp, is I.M.D. for the Erste Matrosen Division, and the other W.K. for Werft zu Kiel. The bayonet I found for it has the same unit marks, with the I.M.D. cancelled on the scabbard and ground off of the cross guard, replaced by W.K...

    Gewehr 98 DWM 1901 8253 Kaiserliche Marine

Stock. Handguard is not numbered but looks original. The acceptance s almost gone though so I can’t be certain, it could be an armorers replacement.
