Nice all matching Oberndorf 1916 Gewehr 98

Here are some, admitedly crappy, pics of the stock markings, buttplate. My battery was dying so the quality sucks. I went ahead and secured it on layaway but there was a 1918 Erfurt Gew98a, mostly matching but the stock, a few smaller pieces were mismatched. Not import marked. It was very...

1940 W.K.C. matching, help with value and scabbard

Thank you very much for the info on the frog. That was driving me crazy. The hole and poor quality of scabbard and frog are definitely bothersome. It is nice to know the blade finish is pretty good. Gives me some negotiation ammo. Thanks again!

Nice all matching Oberndorf 1916 Gewehr 98

Thanks Loewe. I agree the duffle cut is part of the history and I didn't notice any loseness or other indicators that suggested there was one. It is definitely not import marked. The graffiti is bothersome but as you say, they don't grow on trees. I was just looking at the numbers...

Nice all matching Oberndorf 1916 Gewehr 98

I didn't even think to check but what would a duffle cut do to that estimate?

Nice all matching Oberndorf 1916 Gewehr 98

I can't believe I didn't get a picture of the stock right side. The markings were intact. I will get a photo when I go back. The numbers are carved to the right and slightly above the disk on the right side. I'm trying g to think what type of number would fit that pattern...service number? Some...

1940 W.K.C. matching, help with value and scabbard

Thank you VERY much! I am such a Noob to the German weapon scene and I know you can get taken for a ride if not careful. These guys are good, just don't know any better either. I'll definitely keep looking! I am looking for something that would be "correct" for my new 1940 Steyr 660. I...

2015 Best Finds of the Year

Elusive 2d J Block Radom P.35(p) I didn't even know I wanted a Radom but it is a tangent from my FN 640b penchant. Rare 2nd J-Block, I'm told it is one of only six known in the world. Original GAQ holster (unfortunately missing the magazine pouch). Most parts are from Radom but built by...

1940 W.K.C. matching, help with value and scabbard

Kinda what I was thinking. I see the large group for sale on forums for $180 in better shape. I'll see if I can haggle a bit or just wait. Really no rush. Its at a local store and I like to support local businesses when I can but I'm sure I'll find the right one.

1940 W.K.C. matching, help with value and scabbard

Good afternoon. I am looking at a matching 1940 W.K.C. bayonet, scabbard (SN: 8762 N...I think) and frog. I have a couple questions. 1. I have been searching for the frog maker but can't identify it entirely due to a hole right in the middle of the stamp...ugh. It looks like...

Nice all matching Oberndorf 1916 Gewehr 98

Last few. Other than the numbers in the stock, I think it is a nice looking weapon. I have a byf 43 that this would be a nice companion. Any observations or comments are appreciated! Happy New Year!

Nice all matching Oberndorf 1916 Gewehr 98

Good evening, I am looking at a nice 1916 Oberndorf Gewehr 98 SN: 5672k, all matching as near as I can tell. Butt plate, stock, bolt parts, trigger housing and screws, bands, follower, magazine plate etc. The finish is thin with a two-tone appearance between the receiver and the barrel, but...

BCD 41 no Serial Number, need some help.

The upper band is the incorrect "speed milled" type rather than the "H" milled. The bolt finish looks "correct" but the rifle finish looks RC but there really aren't enough detailed pics to tell. I don't see the typical RC "X" on the receiver but the 1940 Gustloff 337 I had didn't have it...

New all matching 1940 Steyr 660 except cleaning rod

Thank you for the input! It is definitely one of my new favorites. As to RCs I know they have less monetary value, comparatively, but I still find them interesting from a historical perspective. They were also the "gateway drug" to bigger and better things in the way that refurbished M91/30s...

New all matching 1940 Steyr 660 except cleaning rod

Here are some photos of the stock. Thank you again very much. I know 660s aren't the holy grail but I like where this fits with my other Steyr weapons. The history of them is unique and definitely add to my interest but each of these artifacts has a story to tell, no matter what side of a...

New all matching 1940 Steyr 660 except cleaning rod

Yes, it does have the e/623 x4, blank siderail and the acceptance marks/WaA and SN on the stock. I have added more photos. Ultimately I am happy with the rifle and still think I got a pretty good deal, any thoughts on what sanding does to the value? I now have an RC bnz. 41 and an amazing "j...
